I have 5 trees now that are huge. the pines (pictured laying down) are about 5-5.5 feet tall and about 300 pounds. The 3 hardwoods are about 3 feet tall and weigh a bit less. Like David Nash, I am wondering if I should darken the forms so the form is noticed first. i would only darken the outside of the form. another consideration are the edges of these forms. the "natural" form is so different because it wasn't manually cut. do i leave the marks of the chain saw? do i destroy the edges like von Rysindsvard?  ideally, i would like about 12 of these, ranging from one foot to 7 feet. i do have two smaller stumps and that brings me to seven. i always am searching for tree stumps. the stumps would be hung from a ceiling in various distances from the logs. the logs will be light from the floor and the stumps will have wires of lights inside the root systems. the idea of casting shadows on the ceiling and floor is important.
